Baby Girl

This should have been up 2 days ago. My apologies. We had our first viewing of the little critter in Kate's tummy, and, as it turns out, it's a GIRL! Isn't she Cute?!! I don't think I could be any more excited about anything, ever. I am stoked! Kate is pretty darn giddy about it all too. She's always hoped to have a girl first. When we were telling people about it, they kept asking if I was ok with it...what a silly question. Maybe some of my earlier claims that the child is of the male gender led them to believe that I wouldn't like it any other way. Quite to the contrary. As to the magic blanket, we've decided it's lost it's powers or else it only works for one generation. :)

Happy Birthday Zakery!

It's Zak's birthday today and I just want to wish him Happy Birthday! I'm so lucky to be married to him, he is my best friend and the best husband ever. He is always so unselfish and thinking of others first, he is a great example for me. I love you Zak!

Vacation time

Our refrigerator is on vacation right now. I just wish he would have told us he was leaving. Luckily, we have a backup (pictured above) that's almost as good. Hopefully the Maytag man will bring him back on Monday, we miss him.

Go Cougs

That's pronounced "Cooogz" to those of you who aren't in the know. We hit up our first BYU Basketball game yesterday and had a good time. We had a bunch of free tickets so we went with the infamous val, and little hadley as pictured below.

Oh, and her parents came too.

I can't wait until I am marginalized by my own spawn. I've seen it happen with my own siblings and their munchkins, so it will most assuredly happen to Kate and I. Luckily the Coogz won and extended their home winning streak to 42 games. Not to shabby for (mostly) a bunch of white boys.

Magic Blanket

So we are about a month away from having an ultrasound confirm what is already known: the bundle of joy we have on the way is, in fact, a boy. Now some of you more skeptical types might scoff at the notion that we could somehow know such a fact before any medical examination, but let me tell you the story of the magic blanket.

The story begins on an Indian reservation in the Dakotas, long long ago. My father served there as a missionary and was well liked by many of the tribe members. One good sister hand-made a beautiful quilt for him as a parting gift. Before giving my dad the lovely blue quilt, she presented it to the holy man who blessed the blanket. My dad accepted the gift and returned home with it. After my dad married my mom, they kept the blanket on their bed. The years passed and my the little family grew. First was Jeremy, then Andy, and then myself. 3 boys all in a row and the blanket remained on the bed. Normally, this succession of events would not seem out of the ordinary, but, the holy man had blessed the blanket that it would endow the recipient with many sons. After I was born, my dad decided that he should tell my mom the full story of the blanket. When mother heard that story, the blanket immediately came off the bed and the next child born was Tracy, my little sister and the only girl.

Well, the blanket was retired from service and nearly forgotten. Then one day I remembered the fabled treasure and asked if it was still intact. Indeed it was and I promptly returned it to service on my own bed. Less than a week after doing so, our little boy was conceived.

Now you know why I am so sure of the gender of our little fetus.
