Uncle KB and Auntie Nee Nee’s Visit

We were lucky enough to have my brother Christian (KB) and his wife Lanee (NeeNee) come out and visit us the end of August. They’ve been in China teaching English for the past year, so it was so fun to see and spend time with them again!

Crazy picture, but they both just got soaked by Shamu, it was great! We started their visit out by going to Sea World together with Lanee’s brother’s family.  It was fun showing them around and we all had a blast! DSC_0882

Josie and Kennedy became good buddiesDSC_0888Kennedy finally got to take daddy on Elmo’s carousel and down the slide!DSC_0899

One of the days we floated down the Comal River, while Kennedy played at a friend’s house, it was so fun and relaxing! We also played a LOT of games, we love playing games but never find the time, so it’s nice having an excuse when company is here!DSC_0908Kennedy sure loves her Auntie NeeNee, she’s great with her and they always have a fun time playing!DSC_0910Kennedy likes being lifted up on people’s legs and would request Lanee to do it often, Kennedy decided she wanted to give her a turn this time.DSC_0918We took them on a tour of Zak’s work, and it was too hot to have a picnic outside, so we came home and had one in the living room.DSC_0914Had to stop for some froyo at YogurtZone…we love that stuff!DSC_0925         Elmo and Kennedy loved being with Uncle KB.

Thanks for coming to visit, come again soon!

Long time no blog…

IMG_9851e

Thought it might be time for some new pictures of this cutie on the blog! Zak’s very talented sister took these pictures of Kennedy while we were in Bear Lake this summer.

So ya, I’ve taken a LONG break from blogging if you haven’t noticed :)…but I’ve repented of my ways and I’m committed to be better, now that our crazy summer is over. Maybe that means life will slow down now, ha! probably not. I’m still going to try and post about the previous months, even though it’s a daunting task. It’s for my sake since this is basically our scrapbook, so I’ll be playing catch up for awhile. More posts to be coming soon…it’s good to be back!

Strawberry Patch

I’ve been wanting to go to a strawberry patch for awhile now and we finally did it last week with some friends. We drove out to Marburger Orchards in Fredericksburg. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Everything is bigger in Texas!”  well, not so for their strawberries haha. I’d been imagining picking these big lush strawberries…instead it took us 3 hours to pick 9 lbs of quite small ones. The friend that I went with just moved here from California too, so it wasn’t what she was used to.  We still had a great time though and the weather seriously couldn’t have been better, it was overcast and there was a nice breeze.

DSC_0581 Looking for that perfect strawberry!DSC_0583DSC_0584Ahh, found it!DSC_0586

The kids loved running around in the rows and even ‘helped’ us pick a few green ones :)

IMG_0385Cute kiddos, happy we were finally done picking strawberriesDSC_0590Delicious!

We hadn’t got our fill for strawberries yet so we stopped at Costco and bought more on the way home!  The next day we made all kinds of yummy things with our 20lbs of strawberries; freezer jam, homemade ice cream, fruit leather, puree, dried strawberries, strawberry cupcakes and smoothies. DSC_0594Kennedy loved taste-testing the chocolate dipped strawberriesDSC_0605

I’ve been on a cupcake making kick lately, so of course I had to try these since I had so many strawberries.

Feeding the Ducks

We went and fed the ducks and had a picnic with our good friends Allie and Kaylee before they left for their extended trip to D.C.  We’d never been to this park before so it was fun to go check it out.

DSC_0363DSC_0358The ducks were pretty ugly, but the girls loved feeding them!DSC_0356

Pictures4

I know these pictures are all very similar, but I just loved all their different facial expressions and had to post a few.  They are so silly together and have so much fun and these pictures show it!  Kennedy sure misses them and asks about them everyday!

Planting Flowers

Our Family Night lesson on Monday was on the creation, so afterwards Kennedy helped daddy plant some flowers for our activity. She loved digging, watering, seeing all the worms, planting and just playing in the dirt.

DSC_0741DSC_0742What a good little helperDSC_0744DSC_0748 She decided that her little shovel wasn’t doin’ the job ;)DSC_0745

I sure love watching these two together!

Bay of Play

Sea World opened up again the end of February, and along with it a new Sesame Street attraction called Bay of Play. All the new stuff it has is pretty neat.  They have 4 new rides, a big splash pad area, and an awesome net/rope jungle gym area.  The Sesame Street characters do a show and also walk around during the day so the kids can say hi. Kennedy loves it!  They had Great Day SA (like Good Things Utah) out filming their show a few weeks ago for the big grand opening and we got to be part of the audience and even made it on the show a few times!
